OBM Waste Treatment Unit

GN solids control can design and produce both WBM waste treatment system and OBM waste treatment unit. The core equipments for WBM waste treatment system is high G drying shaker and VFD decanter centrifuge, the major equipments for OBM waste treatment unit is vertical cuttings dryer and VFD decanter centrifuge.


The working principal of vertical cuttings dryer is as below:
The major components of vertical G dryer including stainless steel screen basket, rotor assembly, bearing, individual oil lubrication system, control panel, main motor, oil pump motor, air knife to clean the screen basket to prevent it from blocking the screen basket, bell jar. By centrifugal force, the screen basket accelerates to 900rpm with 420G force, the liquid is forced pass through the screen opening, and the dry solids are extracted by flights to the cone, which rotate slowly than the screen basket. The flights are protected by tungsten carbide alloy with better abrasion resistance for longer working life. The fluids flow to intermediate tank through fluids discharge line, the dry solids are discharged from discharge port, the client can collect the cuttings by screw conveyor and transfer to cuttings container continuously. The oil on the cuttings in the discharged solids is below 5%, which can meet the environmental protection regulation for land fill. The fluids in the intermediate tank will be transferred to decanter centrifuge for ultra fine solids separation. The vertical cuttings dryer and VFD decanter centrifuge are installed on the same skid for convenient operation and transportation.


The cuttings transfer system including one horizontal screw conveyor and slant installed screw conveyor, or cuttings transfer pump with diesel engine drived, or vacuum pump which is 100% air operated pump to transfer the oil based drilling waste to vertical cuttings dryer system.

The compact design dewatering unit can be used for TBM slurry dewatering, dredging slurry dewatering, industry water dewatering unit.

Waste water treatment decanter centrifuge

Recently GN solids control shipped 2 units of GNLW554EP decanter centrifuges to our client in Yunan Province, China, they have a project to treat industrial waste water from an industrial area. As one of the most professional decanter centrifuge manufacturer in China, we have C series decanter centrifuge, Y series decanter centrifuge and P series decanter centrifuge.


Except for electricity drived decanter centrifuge ( fixed speed and VFD ), we also have full hydraulic drive centrifuge, the full hydraulic drive decanter centrifuge is used for high temperature ambient for heavy mud with variable bowl speed and differential speed.

CBM mud recycling system for Coal Mining company

Recently we shipped one set of CBM mud recycling system for coal mining company in China, different with oil & gas drilling rig and HDD mud recycling system, compared with oil & gas solids control system, the CBM drilling rig mud recycling system is with less equipments, less storage capacity, less treating capacity required, smaller footprint. Compared with HDD mud recycling system, the CBM mud cleaning system use more equipments, more storage and mixing capacity, more treating capacity.


The CBM mud recycling system including the equipments below:
(1) 2ea of shale shaker as the first phase cleaning equipments to separate coarse solids, each screen with 3pcs shaker screens, total screen area is 2.63m2.
(2) 1ea of desander with bottom shale shaker and 1ea 10 inch desander cone as the second phase cleaning equipment, to separate the fine solids size 40 ~ 70 microns, the bottom shale shaker with 2pcs screens, the total screen area is 1.35m2.


(3) 1ea of desilter with bottom shale shaker and 8ea 4 inch desilter cone as the third phase cleaning equipment, to separate the fine solids size 15 ~ 40 microns, the bottom shale shaker with 2pcs screens, the total screen area is 1.35m2.
(4) 1 ea of middle speed decanter centrifuge as the fourth phase cleaning to separate the ultra fine solids size 5 microns to 7 microns. The vertically installed submersible slurry pump is the feeding pump of decanter centrifuge.
(5) 4 mud tanks with mud agitator, mud gun, mud tank accessories, valves, pipelines, connectors, electric control system as the treating, storage, mixing mud tank.


(6) 1 unit of jet mud mixer as the mixing unit of the mud recycling system to prepare for new drilling fluids.

Vertical G dryer and screw conveyor ready for shipment

Vertical G dryer is ideal equipment to treat oil based mud drilling waste, the screw conveyor is matched equipment is to transfer the drilling waste to vertical G dryer. Recently one batch of vertical cuttings dryer and screw conveyor are ready for shipment to International Environmental Engineering Company. GN own made screw conveyor with features as below:


1) The upper cover or steel grating of the screw conveyor for quick switch or both available for customer’s option. The steel grating design is convenient for observation and maintenance.
2) The bearing brand is FAG or NSK for longer working life.
3) The material touch part– screw flights are made of wear resistant and thicker manganese steel, and also sprayed with wear resistant coating to extend the working life.
4) The screw conveyor reinforced frame is with high strength for horizontal and inclined installation. The inclined installation angle should be less than 45 degree.
5) The bearing sears are made of aluminum casting.
6) The inner bearing housing with self-lubricating HWS alloy hanging bearing core with grease filling nozzle to facilitate the injection of grease.
7) The good quality rubber sealing inside the shell cover plate to prevent the dust/ liquids leakage in operation.


8) The major components of screw conveyor including : bearing block assembly at motor side, intermediate hanger bearing and shaft assembly and tail bearing block assembly.
9) Each section to be made as 12ft length, we offer 1 section, 2 section, 3 section or 4 sections with different length for option.
The vertical cuttings dryer can treat the oil based mud drilling waste to drying cuttings with OOC below 5%, in some countries, OOC 5% is permitted for landfill or construction industry (to make bricks). In most developed countries, the permitted limit is OOC below 1% by TDU.

WBM Waste treatment system

WBM waste treatment main equipments including drilling cuttings drying shaker, high speed/ VFD decanter centrifuge, drilling cuttings solidification unit, chemical dosing unit, the basical working process is as below:


2 units of drying shaker standard modular to be installed under the solids control shale shaker to pick up the water based mud drilling cuttings, the cuttings collection box is equipped for each drying shaker to collect the waste. The discharged fluids dropped into the catch tank under each drying shaker through shaker screens, the feeding pump transfer the fluids to VFD decanter centrifuge, which is installed on the telescopic skid with VFD control panel, the feeding pump is also installed on the centrifuge skid. The fluids from decanter centrifuge flow to intermediate tank ,the submersible slurry pump transfer the fluids back to solids control system reserve tank.

The discharged solids from drying shaker, decanter centrifuge, and the drilling waste collected by screw conveyor from desander, desilter, solids control decanter centrifuge are all feed to cuttings solidification unit, mixed with cement and lime (solidifying agent) in the vessel to get the dry disposal material, the solidified drilling waste can be used for landfill since the hazardous material will not leak, it is safe for landfill.
If the treated fluids will not be reused to prepare for new drilling fluids, and the user want to get pure water, chemical dosing system with VFD dewatering centrifuge will be used, the decanter centrifuge can separate cut point up to 1 microns by adding flocculants. The decanter centrifuge is drived by VFD control panel with self cooling system or air conditioner, which is positive pressurized, 3 VFD including main motor, back drive motor, pump motor.

TBM Slurry Separation Plant manufacturer in China

The mud discharged from desander cone dropped down to the mud tank as intermediate tank, it will flow to the storage tank finally.
If the client need a high configuration proposal with bigger treating capacity and the cut point is below 20 microns, we will provide GNTBM-240, GNTBM-360, GNTBM-500 models, for example, if the client required capacity is 800m3/h capacity, we will use GNTBM-360 with GNTBM-500 as combination system. If the user required capacity is 1000m3/h, we will use 2 units of GNTBM-500 slurry separation plant. And so on, 1500m3/h slurry separation unit with 3 units of GNTBM-500 system.

Offshore mud cleaning system ready for shipment

Recently one unit of customized design mud cleaning system are ready for shipment to our customer, the technical configuration is as below:


1) Linear motion shale shaker: it is the first phase cleaning to reduce the solids content and separate coarse solids from the drilling fluids, the operator can use different API mesh shaker screens to adjust the density, viscosity of the drilling fluids to meet drilling requirement, a good performance shale shaker can reduce the drilling waste effectively. The 2ea Italy Oil brand vibration motor drive the shale shaker, the shaker screen fixed by wedges, the shaker deck bottom is made of stainless steel for better corrosion resistance.


2) Linear motion mud cleaner including desander cone, desilter cone and bottom shale shaker. desander cone is the second phase cleaning, desilter cone is the third phase cleaning, the desander cone and desilter cone are made of 100% PU for longer working life, the composite material frame shaker screens can last longer and the effective screen area is larger, the separation performance is better, the storage period can last longer.
3) Centrifugal pump, which can be used as mixing pump, desander/ desilter feeding pump, transfer pump, charging pump, trip pump, it is installed inside the frame for convenient transportation and lifting from land to offshore rig platform. The lifting pad can be certified by DNV as per client’s requirement. The pump casing and impeller material is ductile hard alloy for better abrasion resistance.

Dewatering unit to Africa

Recently GN solids control shipped one unit of dewatering unit to Africa, the client already bought dewatering centrifuge from GN before, he needs to use chemical dosing unit for new projects, considering the hot temperature weather in Africa, we put the dewatering unit into standard container for convenient transportation and water/ sun proof, the container with windows, doors, air conditioner, lightings. The dewatering unit including three tank automatical powder polymer mixing system and Coagulant mixing tank, the user can use either flocculants or coagulant for different purpose.

The working process is as below:
The powder chemicals are adding into the hopper for mixing and aging, the 3 tanks ensure the continuous operation, the chemical dosing pump transfer the mixed chemicals to centrifuge feed tube, and mixed in the Static mixer before feeding to the dewatering centrifuge feed tube. The most popular model is GNLW363C-VFD, the bowl diameter is 14 inch, the bowl length is 50 inch, the max speed is 3900rpm, the normal working speed is 3200rpm, the max G force is 3063G, the typical G force is 0~2062G, the mechanical separation cut point is 2~5 microns, by working with dewatering unit, the separation cut point is up to 1 microns, most of the ultra fine solids can be separated out, the customer can get pure water and drier solids for final disposal.


The VFD control panel drive the main motor, back drive motor and pump motor to set bowl speed and differential speed, the pump speed can be also adjusted to adjust the feed flow. The PLC smart control and HMI interface ensured the automatically operation.

Drilling cuttings transfer system manufacturer in China

As one of the professional manufacturer of solids control equipments and drilling waste management system in China, GN solids control also design and produce drilling cuttings transfer system based on different drilling rig floor plan. Basically the way to transfer drilling waste including screw conveyor system, cuttings vacuum pump and cuttings transfer pump.
1) Screw conveyor system: it is widely used to collect and transfer drilling waste from solids control equipments to drilling waste management system, but it is also limited when liquid moisture is very high, it is easily leakage and flow back, and the space requirement is too big, especially for offshore rig, when space is very limited, and power consumption is higher compared with other ways. But it is more popular way right now. There are 2 installation ways, the first one is to use the excavator to dump the drilling waste to the collection hopper of the screw conveyor when there is a waste pit, then the screw conveyor transfer the drilling waste to vertical cuttings dryer ( for oil based drilling waste) or high G drying shaker( for water based drilling cuttings). The second installation way is that there is no waste pit at rig site, the screw convetor ( horizontally installed) to collect the drilling waste from shale shaker, desander, desilter, then a slantly installed screw conveyor to transfer them to the drilling waste management system.
2) Vacuum pump can be used to transfer drilling cuttings from waste pit to screw conveyor collection hopper, or transfer to vertical cuttings dryer directly, an air compressor is required to supply air to operate the vacuum pump, since the required air compressor model is very big, which limited the utilization of the vacuum pump, but the space required is small.
