This week GN Start the production of cuttings solidification unit for CNPC, Last week we shipped the vertical cuttings dryer and decanter centrifuge to CNPC for their drilling waste management project. The cuttings solidification unit is also an equipment to treat the final drilling cuttings when you do not need to reused the drilling mud.

The configuration of the cuttings solidification unit for CNPC, including:
1 Cuttings collection: The cuttings collection system including a hopper with a screw conveyor, The drilling cuttings from solids control system and drilling waste management system will be collected by the hopper and transferred by the screw conveyor to the mixing vessel.
2 Chemical storage:One of them are used to storage the curing agent, one is used to storage the desiccant, the screw conveyor equipped on the tank will transfer the chemicals to the mixing vessel automatically.

rict environmental protection laws for the drilling waste treatment, all of the new drillings rigs must equipped with zero discharge drilling waste management system, including solids control system to recycle most of the drilling fluids to be used by the drilling rig, also include the vertical cuttings dryer system to recycle the useful drilling fluids and to reduce the oil content in the discharged solids below 5%, which can match the government required limit.

The vertical cuttings dryer and decanter centrifuge are the major equipments for the drilling waste management system, the working process is as below:

The cuttings collection system( vacuum pump, screw conveyor, etc. equipments) to transfer the drilling waste to the vertical cuttings dryer inlet port on the top, the solids discharged from vertical cuttings dryer with OOC below 5%, the fluids will flow to the intermediate tank, the screw pump will pump the fluids to the decanter centrifuge to separate fine solids from the fluids, because the normal screen opening of the screen basket of the vertical cuttings dryer is 0.35mm, 0.5mm, most of the fine solids still remained in the fluids, it can not reach the standard to be reused.
The decanter centrifuge can be used for both barite recovery, low gravity solids separation, high gravity solids separation and drilling waste management system.

We have 3 models linear motion shale shaker which can be used for oil & gas drilling solids control system. GNZS703E-HB with treating capacity 528gpm, 3 panel shale shaker with screen area 2.63m2, we use composite material frame shaker screens for longer service life GNZS594E-HB with treating capacity 616gpm, 4 panel shale shaker with screen area 2.73m2, we use composite material frame shaker screens for better treating performance. The screen dimension is replaceable with Swaco Mongoose PT shale shaker. The composite material frame shaker screen with 20% bigger effective screen area, and the working life will be much more longer compared with traditional steel frame shaker screen.
GNZS593E-HB shale shaker is a new design from GNZS594E-HB shale shaker, for some old solids control system which ever installed other brand shale shaker, there is no enough place to install the 4 panel shale shaker, so we design the 3 panel shale shaker instead of the 4 panel shale shaker, and with the same shaker screen dimension, the clients can use our OEM shaker screens for both GN shale shaker and Swaco Mongoose shale shaker.

We have horizontal vacuum degasser and centrifugal degasser for option, horizontal vacuum degasser is a traditional vacuum degasser, centrifugal degasser is installed vertically to save place on the mud tank system, and the maintenance cost is cheaper.

Trailer mounted dredging slurry separation system

Dredging slurry separation system/ Industry waste water treatment is one of the applications of GN solids control, except for solids control system, drilling waste management system, oil sludge treatment system, horizontal directional drilling system, core bed methane drilling, geothermal well drilling, water well drilling.

The basic working principal is that the dredger will take the contaminated sediment toxic and non-toxic element, and sludge from the big environmental dredging of pond revitalization, the sludge will be pumped by the submersible slurry pump to the dredging slurry separation system, which will separate the solids from the water as much as possible. The dredging slurry separation process including:
First step cleaning: shale shaker, to separate the solids bigger than 100 microns from the water, we will metal slit screen or complete composite screens to separate the big solids, like bricks, garbage, branch, rocks, etc. For a 1000gpm sludge separation system, we will use 2 units of GN 4 panel shale shaker. But the shale shaker may not be necessary when there is no big solids and all of the particles are smaller than 100 microns, it will be useless.
Second step: desander cone with bottom shale shaker to separate the solids between 45 microns to 100 microns, 2 ea of 10 inch desander cone is sufficient for 1000gpm treating capacity.

Third step: 4” desilter cone with bottom shale shaker to separate the solids bigger than 20 microns, 12 ea of 4 inch desilter cone is enough for 1000gpm treating capacity.
The fourth step: 2” desilter cone with bottom shale shaker to separate the solids bigger than 10 microns.

Drilling cuttings transfer system in Argentina

GN solids control produce drilling cuttings transfer system based in China, Beijing, there are 2 options for drilling waste transfer, one is the vacuum pump, the other one is the screw conveyor system. The vacuum pump with advantages of cheaper price, no need electric power consumption, and compact design, which is the ideal equipments to transfer the drilling cuttings, oil sludge, oil contaminated solids, etc. But for high viscosity oil sludge, it will be difficult to use vacuum pump to transfer from the waste pit to the premixing system, but for drilling cuttings, the vacuum pump works very well, pls refer to GN website to watch the working video of the vacuum pump.

The screw conveyor system can transfer the cuttings with less moisture only, if with too much water/ oil mixture fluids, the fluids will flow back to the waste pit or spill out of the conveyor, because mostly the screw conveyor is installed slantly. And the same time, the screw conveyor need a large area to install, sometimes the area in the rig site is very limited to install the screw conveyor system, also considering the power consumption and cost.
The operation of the vacuum pump need an air compressor, which can be also used to run the decanter centrifuge VFD control panel. All the VFD control panel is positive pressurized variable frequency drive, with the cooling tube installed on the side.

The vacuum pump can suck the solids/ cuttings/ oil sludge from the waste pit up to 50m, distance up to 100m, the max solids is up to 75mm( 3 inch). The max transfer capacity of this model is 40m3/h, the 10m3/h model and 18m3/h model is also under production.

GN solids control is the only solids control manufacturer who owns our own ball blasting machines, we can control the quality better. The most important process for shale shaker / mud cleaner deck anti-corrosion is bottom material treatment and painting. After GN ball blasting, degree SA2.5, life time for anticrossion is 10~15 years.
Difference between sand blasting and ball blasting is as below:

Generally speaking, ball blasting is with better quality than sand blasting, and difficult to achieve. So GN shale shaker with longer time for anti- corrosion compared with other brand shale shaker. The composite material frame shaker screen has longer working life compared with traditional steel frame shaker screen, and the effective screen area is 20% bigger than steel frame shaker screens. The drilling fluids touch parts shaker deck are made of stainless steel 304, which is anti-corrosion.

2 sets of containerized drilling waste management system to Russia

This week GN solids control shipped 2 sets of containerized drilling waste management system to Russia client, totally we have over 10 units of such system working in Russia, the unique design is because of the low temperature in Russia area. The container with heating material to keep the equipments warm and can work smoothly, otherwise the equipments will stop working or damage the explosion proof motor when the temperature is lower than – 40℃.
The main equipments of the drilling waste management system for oil based drilling waste is vertical cuttings dryer, also called vertical G dryer. The other equipments list including:

GNLW363CG-VFD decanter centrifuge is the most popular model centrifuge to equipped in the drilling waste management system with max treating capacity 40m3/h, normal working capacity The vertical cuttings dryer can be fixed speed to keep the smooth working speed and G force, but the decanter centrifuge must be variable frequency drive with positive pressurized VFD control panel, the inverter brand is world famous brand ABB, the other electric components are Schneider, Simens, etc.

Chemical dosing system with big bowl decanter centrifuge to Singapore

This week GN solids control shipped 2 units of chemical dosing system with 2 big bowl big volume decanter centrifuge to our Singapore Clients for TBM waste mud treatment. This is not the first time for GN to ship such dewatering unit to Singapore for TBM waste water treatment project, several years ago we shipped another unit of containerized dewatering unit with decanter centrifuge installed inside 20ft container for convenient shipment, operation and rain proof.

GNLW553C-VFD decanter centrifuge is a 22 inch bowl diameter centrifuge, this is not the largest centrifuge GN can produce, we also have GNLW764-VFD with 30 inch bowl diameter centrifuge, it can be used for Tunneling project when huge amount water/ sludge is required for the operation.

The working principal is as below:

The chemicals are added in the chemical dosing system and mixed, then the dosing pump will transfer the chemicals to the decanter centrifuge feed tube, the chemicals will be added to the waste water/ waste sludge from the TBM and after treatment, the ultra fine solids will be separated out from the waste water so they can be reused for the TBM operation. The centrifuge mechanical separation cut point is 2~5 microns, if most of the solids inside the waste water is smaller than 2 microns, it is hard to separate out them, you have to add flocculant to make them flocculation and easy to be separated by the high speed decanter centrifuge.

The max rotary speed of the decanter centrifuge is 2500rpm, it can be adjusted by the VFD control panel with PLC smart control. The normal operation speed is 2200rpm. The dewatering unit /chemical dosing system are installed inside 20ft container for convenient operation, maintenance, and rain/ sun proof.

5)    Big bowl big volume decanter centrifuge: The 22 inch bowl diameter decanter centrifuge max treating capacity is 110m3/h for clean water, the normal treating capacity for drilling fluids treatment is 90m3/h, for slurry separation with chemical dosing system, the treating capacity will be reduced a lot based on different slurry conditions.
