Celebration of GN and EMEC Cooperation on Decanter Centrifuge

Celebration for GN & EMEC strategic relationship was held in Hebei GN Solids Control Co., Ltd’s headquarter, signifying a long term cooperation between GN and EMEC starts on the basis of mutual trust and support. EMEC, fully spelled as Egyptian Mud Engineering & Chemical Company, is the largest mud and solids control service provider in Egypt firstly established relationship with GN three years ago. At the beginning of 2015, EMEC chose GN as their long term cooperated supplier of decanter centrifuge and placed a very big order of GN decanter centrifuge. After the celebration, the large batch of decanter centrifuge will be delivered to Africa.

On the celebration, GN general manager Mr. Zhou said, “ Here, I’d like to extend sincere gratitude to Mr. Amir and Egyptian Mud Engineering & Chemical Company who gives this chance to GN solids control with their excellent insight. As it is known that decanter centrifuge plays a very important role in a set of solids control system because it will separated the ultra-fine solids out then the drilling mud can be clean enough to be reused. Normally 2 sets of decanter centrifuge used in the solids control system for oil and gas drilling, a medium speed for high gravity solids separation, and a high speed decanter centrifuge for low gravity solids separation. This time a large amount of GN high speed decanter centrifuge delivered to Africa as the fruit of this cooperation.

GN Shale Shaker with Mongoose Replacement Screen Stock Available in Houston Warehouse

After the Spring Festival Holiday, GN back to work for a while, the Inventory of the solids control equipment in Houston has already upgraded. The main equipment available right now are the shale shaker, mud cleaner and decanter centrifuge. These units are requested very often by the customer once the rig starting for setting up.

The shale shaker stocked in GN Houston warehouse is a type of linear motion vibration mode. 4 panel screens design makes it large working area and long time for the drilling mud stay on the screen thus the cuttings discharged out would be much dryer. It is worthy to mention that the screen matched this shaker model GNZS594E is interchangeable with the original Mongoose screen. Same dimension while the difference is material used. GN’s screen is steel frame which is price competitive than the original ones. The Vibration motor used are from Italy Oli or American Martin, both of this 2 brands are acceptable by The States markets.

The mud cleaner stocked is the model of 1000GPM on capacity with 2 pcs 10 inch de-sander cone and 12 pcs de-silter cones. The under flow shale shaker is the same model with the stocked ones for easy maintenance and future spare parts requirements from the customer.

On considering the request for the shaker screen, GN solids also made inventory for the shaker screen size of 23×46 inch from API 60 to API 230. Right now the stock quantity of the shale shaker and mud cleaner are separately 10 units and 6 units. These units could be delivered within 3 days after the order is placed.

The decanter centrifuge stocked is the new version C type model GNLW363CG. Comparing with the BG model, CG has several upgrades on the designs including the feed tube installation location, the adding of solids discharge block ring which could effectively avoid the cutting gathering in the collection box.

GN Decanter Centrifuge on High Support Frame

In oil and gas drilling industry, the decanter centrifuge can be utilized for barite recovery, ultra fine solids separation and drilling waste cuttings management. Based on the different application and customers’ specific request, GN provides the centrifuge sometimes within the mud recycling system in which the centrifuge is installed on the mud tank. Some clients want to locate the centrifuge on the frame for simple operation and maintenance.

 

Once the centrifuge installed on the mud tank, it is usually utilized for barite recovery or ultra fine solids separation. Within the traditional mud recycling system, the drilling mud could be treated in series by shale shaker, desander & desilter, decanter centrifuge. 2-centriuge product is now the most popular design that could apply for the barite recovery and ultra fine solids separation. With increasingly more rules are released for restricting the release of drilling waste, the drilling companies pay much more attention on maximum drilling liquids recovery. Thus the drilling waste management is granularly entering the drilling industry. Additionally, it request our high speed centrifuge to recuperate the drilling liquids as maximum as possible. Therefore, some companies only get the job done for the drilling waste cuttings separation.

 

Sometimes the contractor don’t equip centrifuge within the mud recycling system because of cost consideration or low requirement on mud cleanness. The centrifuge service could be supplied by other drilling mud company. The centrifuge having a high support frame is bought in cause it may be utilized for the last stage solids control and drilling waste management.

Centrifuge process

Drilling fluid enter into the hollow shaft in the spiral conveyor by the feeding tubes, then flow into bowl. Because of the high speed rotating of the bowl , to drive the entered drilling fluid rotating together, the solid debris in the drilling fluid is thrown the wall of the bowl, the drilling fluid expel from the screw conveyor pushing to the discharge hole of the small port. The choice of centrifuge by the debris size of separation solid phase, the bowl diameter of centrifuge, the highest speed and the separation factors influence, the drilling site commonly used the solid and liquid density difference, as the separation basic of the settlement centrifuge, mainly clear the solid phase substance in the drilling fluid, is the last level of drilling fluid solid control equipment.

 

Checking steps before operate decanter centrifuge:

 

The rotating body do not have any object to block or interfere the spinning operation.

The strength of the belt for main and support motor are not loosen and no crack.

Hand turn the body to ensure the rotation is smooth without resistance.  If resistance was felt during the rolling by hand, check both main and support motor first.

Check the inlet flow tube is open, and flow divider also need to be open when operation is start.

Check the water, is it in the rotating body?

It needs to check the motor oil level in the gearbox, rotating joints and the usual step list above if decanter centrifuge is not operation for set period of time.

 

The filtering steps that involve with shale shaker and hydrocyclone on desander and desilter can’t remove the most part of debris. Adding centrifuge can process fluid further by remove much smaller debris to achieve much cleaner drilling fluid for zero-discharge drilling fluid systems.
