Drilling cuttings treatment system working for oil based drilling cuttings

GN after sales team come back from jobsite in Xinjiang for one set of drilling cuttings treatment system. The configuration is as below:
1) One set of GNCD930E vertical cuttings dryer to treat the oil remained in the cuttings below 5%. The discharged fluids will flow to the intermediate tank and the feed pump will transfer the clean fluids to the decanter centrifuge from the intermediate tank. After treated by GN VCD, the discharged solids can meet the disposal limit for most countries, it can be used for landfill. If not, the discharged solids can be treated by TDU to lower the oil below 1%. The client can use TDU directly for oil based drilling cuttings, but by using drilling waste management system prior to TDU will save power energy and diesel consumption a lot.


2) One set of VFD decanter centrifuge GNLW363C-VFD to separate the fine solids from the discharged fluids, the recovered fluids can be used to prepare for new drilling fluids and to be reused for drilling rig. The discharged solids will be back to the circulation or cuttings box for disposal.
3) One set of centrifuge feed pump and one set of vertical cuttings dryer flushing pump, both of them are installed on the package skid and they are positive displacement pump made by Germany Netzsch. The speed of the screw pump can be controlled in the VFD control panel to control the flow rate of the feeding capacity.


4) One set of GN standard mud tank skid, all the equipments are installed on the tank skid for convenient operation and transportation.
5) 2 sets of screw conveyor to transfer the drilling waste, one set is used to transfer the oil based drilling cuttings to vertical cuttings dryer top feeding port, one set is used to collect the discharge solids and transfer out to other area automatically.

We can design and produce various size decanter centrifuge from 9 inch to 30 inch bowl with different treating capacity and different applications.

The big bowl size decanter centrifuge with 30 inch( 760mm) bowl, the bowl length is 3328mm, the designed treating capacity is 528 gpm (120 m3/h) for the mud with 20% solids content. The max bowl speed is 2650rpm with max G force 3000G, the typical speed is 2200rpm with typical G force 2060G, the cut point is 2~5 microns. The differential speed is 5~28 rpm, the gearbox torque is 25000 N.M, gearbox ratio is 38:1, the main motor power is 160KW (217HP), the back drive motor power is 90KW (120HP). Considering the cost issue, we also recommend GNLW554EP-VFD for option, the bowl size is 22 inch ( 550 mm) and the bowl length is 91 inch (2310mm), with designed treating capacity 600gpm( 136m3/h) and the typical treating capacity is 480gpm (108m3/h), it can be used as waste water treatment, industrial waste treatment, chemical treatment, dewatering centrifuge and other slurry treatment.

When the user need to treat big volume slurry, and the space and budget is limited, the big bowl big volume centrifuge is the ideal option compared to use several units of small decanter centrifuge.
We will install the decanter centrifuge on the telescopic skid for convenient operation, the chemical dosing unit can be applied to separate ultra fine solids to 1 microns and make the discharged solids drier to meet the disposal standard.

The order including 2 units of 3 panel linear motion shale shaker, we can also produce dual motion shale shaker with linear motion and progressive elliptical motion for different applications equipped with different vibration motors. The shale shakers are used to treat water based drilling fluids, it can be also used for SOBM and OBM. It can reduce the solids content and protect the centrifugal pump impeller, which will be easily damaged if the solids content is too high. Why use GN solids vacuum pump instead of other pumps?

Shale shaker is the first phase cleaning equipment to separate coarse solids and reduce the solids content, the performance of the shale shaker is better, the drilling waste is less, the working life of the desander cone is longer, the working life of centrifugal pump is longer.
The desander cone is the second phase cleaning equipment to separate cut point over 75 microns.
The desilter cone is the third phase cleaning equipment to separate solids cut point over 25 microns.

The decanter centrifuge is the fourth phase cleaning equipment to separate the fine solids cut point 2~5 microns. Features of GN decanter centrifuge:
1) Bowl material is made of duplex stainless steel 2205 or 2304 by centrifugal casting, the screw is made of stainless steel by heat treatment up to 1000 degree, the opening propeller design increase the treating capacity.
2) The solids discharge port and fluids distribution port is protected by tungsten alloy, the screw impeller is protected by tungsten carbide tiles, the scraper and side scraper is also installed to protect the solids discharge port and bowl.
3) The collection box is made of stainless steel material for better abrasion resistence.

The containerized drilling waste management system is with similar configuration, just considering the low operation temperature in Russia, we use a standard 40ft container to ensure all the equipments working in warm area, otherwise the user has to stop working during the long winter.


The screw conveyor
is used to transfer the discharged solids from the vertical G dryer discharge port to cuttings collection box. Also there is skip to collect the discharged solids from decanter centrifuge. The screw conveyor also collect the drilling cuttings from the shale shaker and transfer the drilling cuttings to the vertical cuttings dryer. The length of the screw conveyor is customized according to the rig site layout, the standard length for each section is 12ft, we have option for 1 section, 2 sections, 3 sections and 4 sections. We can also make customized length accordingly.

The working process of the oil sludge separation system:
1) Coarse solids separation modular: with one unit of high G force drying shaker with adjustable G force up to 7.5G, 1mm or 2mm opening screens are installed on the shaker to separate the coarse solids, it is quipped with internal spraying system and sealing cover to prevent oil sludge spilling. The mud tank under the shale shaker is with internal heating lines to heat and mix the oil sludge so that it will be easier to be treated by decanter centrifuge.
2) Decanter centrifuge modular: one unit of VFD decanter centrifuge installed on the mud tank with heating lines, mud tank accessories, The positive progressive displacement pump as feeding pump of decanter centrifuge , the feeding pump feed the oil sludge from shale shaker tank to decanter centrifuge to separate the fine solids cut point 2~5 microns. The mud agitator mixed the oil sludge after treatment and it will flow to the inclined plate clarifier to separate the ultra fine solids before oil water separator.

3) Inclined plate clarifier: It is used to separate the ultra fine solids from the oil water mixture.
4) Oil water separator: to separate oil and water, the pure oil will be pumped to oil tank, the recovered water will be pumped to water storage tank and it can be reused for circulation or hot water for heating.
